The Skilled Migrant Residence pathway

The Green List is a pathway for skilled migrants who have specific and in-demand skills to obtain residence in New Zealand. It is designed to make the application process easier and faster for those who can contribute to the country’s economy and society. You need to have a job or a job offer from an accredited employer in New Zealand. The Green List consists of various occupations, which are classified into Tier 1 and Tier 2 roles.Straight to Residence (For Tier 1)
Straight to Residence (STR) is a remarkable immigration program offered by Immigration New Zealand. If you have a job (or job offer) with an accredited employer, for a role listed on Tier 1 of the Immigration New Zealand Green List, you can make a straight-to-residence visa application. Roles covered under the Green List (Tier 1) include various engineering roles, auditors, health and medical field-related roles, and several IT roles and many more.
Work to Residence (For Tier 2)
Through the WTR program, individuals can secure a temporary work visa, giving them the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and establish themselves in various industries. This program serves as a stepping stone towards obtaining permanent residency, enabling individuals to fully immerse themselves in the Kiwi way of life. If you have a job (or job offer) with an accredited employer, for a role listed on Tier 2 of the Immigration New Zealand Green List and have worked in the role for 24 months or more (after 29/09/2021), and at the required pay rate, then you can be eligible to apply for residence under this pathway. Roles covered under the Green List (Tier 2) are farming, teaching, and trades-related roles.
The Care Workforce and Transport Sector Agreement pathways-
These residence categories are subject to securing employment in New Zealand, in a role covered by either the Care Workforce or the Transport Sector Agreement pathway. To qualify for residence under the Care Workforce or the Transport Sector Agreement pathway, you need to meet the following conditions:- You need to have a job or a job offer from an accredited employer in New Zealand.
- Your job must be full-time, and permanent or fixed-term for at least 12 months.
- You must have either:
24 months of work experience in a land or maritime transport role that is in high demand in New Zealand, or
24 months of work experience in New Zealand, in a care workforce role that paid you the level 4 support workers’ minimum wage or more.
