If you are an experienced businessman and has minimum legally earned funds of NZ $3 million (or NZ$2.5 if investing in growth funds) to invest in New Zealand for a period of four years, you may be eligible to apply for Residence Visa subject to 49 conditions and you can get permanent resident if you retain your investment for four years period of time and spend 146 days for each of the four years.
Stage 1: You apply for an Expression of Interest on the basis of point scale.
Stage 2: If your Expression of Interest application is successful you can apply for Residence.
Stage 3: Your Residence is approved with Section 49 conditions.
Stage 4: After four years of retaining investment in NZ, Section 49 condition gets removed and you get permanent residence.
Entrepreneur Work Visa
You can be eligible to apply for an Entrepreneur Work Visa if you score minimum point of 120. The total duration of Entrepreneur Work Visa is three years.
Entrepreneur Work Visa is a point based application where points will be based on your age, number of years of business experience, level of capital investment in the proposed business, location of proposed business as outside Auckland fetches 40 extra points, number of New Zealand residents and citizens your proposed business intends to employ.
You are required to submit a business plan which details the business you intend to take over / set up in New Zealand. The business can be an existing or a new business.
Stage 1: Start Up Stage
Application for an Entrepreneur Work Visa is submitted to INZ with all relevant documents.
Work visa is approved for one year to allow you to enter and take over/ set up a business in NZ.
Stage 2: Balance of Three years visa
Once your initial set up is made, you are then eligible to apply for balance of three years visa to enable to run your business in New Zealand.
Entrepreneur Resident Visa
Upon successful running of business for two years or more and meeting the goals as set out in the business plan, you may apply for a Residence Visa.
