Have a child who has been living in New Zealand for at least three years as a citizen or resident.

Submit an expression of interest (EOI) form with your details, your child’s details, your partner’s details (if any), and your English language ability.

Wait for an invitation from Immigration New Zealand to apply for residence. Invitations are sent every three months from a pool of EOIs that meet the criteria.

Meet the health, character, and English language requirements for residence. You may need to pay for English language lessons if you do not speak English well.

Have a sponsor who is your child or their partner, or another adult child of yours who is included in your application.

Your sponsor must have enough income to support you and any other applicants.

Not have any dependent children of your own. Only parents and legal guardians can apply for this visa category.

Grandparents may also apply if they meet certain conditions.
